BRISTOL LADIES ANNOUNCE HEAD COACH – ROY DAVIES

Bristol Ladies are thrilled to announce that Roy Davies has been promoted into the role of Head Coach for the 2016/17 season.

Roy joined the club as Forwards Coach for the 15/16 season,bringingwith him four years’ experience working with the RFU Girls Junior Academy.

‘We are delighted to have Roy on board for another season with Bristol Ladies. He brought a new dimension and coaching style to club last season, helping develop both international players and guide the cup squad through a successful cup campaign’says CEO Heidi Chapman Mercer.

After a disappointing finish to the league last year, the club spent time gathering player feedback and looking at the changes we wanted to implement for the next season.
Finishing 5thin the league after being top four all season leaves room for improvement this season and Roy has spent the summer break looking to address some of these areas for development.

This has included implementing a new coaching structure – with a vacancy for a Development Squad Coach currently being recruited for. Roy took some time to speak to us about the new role:

“I’m absolutely delighted to be taking on the role of Head Coach this season. I learnt a lot from the team last season, and I’m really excited to be able to take more responsibility and lead the coaching team this year. Summer training has started well, and we’ve got an exciting programme planned for pre-season to get the teams playing to their full potential as quickly as possible”.

“There is a lot of hard work ahead for both the coaches and players, and getting the right coaching structure in place is key. The role of Development Squad Coach is vital for the club – we’re looking for someone ambitious, committed and hard working to join the club at the start of what could be a huge season for Bristol Ladies’

Our thanks goes to LJ Adams, Head Coach for Bristol for the last two seasons, for her hard work and dedication.
